30 scholarships for students of Hazara University

MANSEHRA: A non-governmental organisation (NGO) has awarded scholarships to 30 students of Hazara University (HU) belonging to the conflict-hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
Addressing the ceremony, Khalil Abbas, managing director of Own, an NGO, said it was the first phase of the scholarship programme during which around 210 students from all over the country would be granted scholarships.
In his address, HU Vice-Chancellor Dr Syed Sakhawat Shah asked students to properly utilise the opportunity for bringing about a positive political and social change in the country through their education.
Saying that education was panacea for all ills, he advised the students to wholeheartedly pursue their studies. He thanked the NGO officials for extending support to the deserving students. On the occasion, a cheque for Rs492,000 was handed over to the vice-chancellor for disbursement among the students of the university.
